About Hive Endurance
We got into triathlon as adults, so we know what it’s like to start something totally new while managing work, family, a social life and everything else life throws at you. That’s why we love helping people get into the sport whether you’re not sure where to even begin or you’re already racing and want to take things up a notch.
We make the complex simple by helping you train with clarity, structure and purpose. You don’t need to be fast, experienced or chasing a podium. You just need need a goal and the willingness to show up. Our aim is to help you arrive at race day strong, healthy and confident.
We’re based in New Zealand but coach athletes all over the world. Programs are delivered digitally and all communication is online, distance is no barrier. We welcome athletes locally and from overseas.
Coaching Comes From Partnership
Coaching isn’t about control or instruction, it’s about working together. The best progress comes when training is treated as a shared process - one that adapts, evolves and builds confidence over time. That means:
honest and open check-ins about training load, fatigue and life outside sport.
building confidence through small, repeatable wins.
training that responds to feedback, rather than forcing the athlete to fit a fixed plan.

Kathleen Munson
Kathleen is an experienced marathon runner who discovered triathlon later in life and she hasn’t looked back since. She knows what it’s like to learn to swim as an adult, navigate the challenge of clipping into pedals on a TT bike for the first time, and balance the steep learning curve of a new sport with the realities of a busy life.
Since making the leap, Kathleen has completed multiple Ironman and 70.3 races, and now channels that experience into helping others, especially beginners, build confidence and find joy in triathlon. Her coaching is warm, supportive, and practical, with a focus on building foundational skills and sustainable routines that set athletes up for long-term success.
Kathleen is passionate about creating an empowering environment for female athletes. She integrates women’s health considerations into her coaching to ensure training is aligned with the unique challenges women face in endurance sport.
Having balanced triathlon training with a demanding career, Kathleen understands the pressure many athletes feel to do it all. She believes triathlon can be a powerful tool for personal growth, stress relief, and high performance in all areas of life. Her goal is to help busy people discover what’s possible when training fits into life, not around it.
Built By The Athlete, Guided By The Coach
A coach doesn’t create performance - the athlete does. Coaching provides direction and perspective, but progress only comes from showing up, staying curious and committing to the process. Our role is to:
turn challenges into opportunities
build confidence athletes can rely on when it counts
simplify the complex
